About this ebook

A heartbreaking story, narrated by twelve-year-old Jack, whose family is caring for fourteen-year-old Joseph. Joseph is misunderstood. He was incarcerated for trying to kill a teacher. Or so the rumours say. But Jack and his family see something others in town don’t want to.
What's more, Joseph has a daughter he’s never seen. The two boys go on a journey through the bitter Maine winter to help Joseph find his baby - no matter the cost.

This book was incredibly sad, I have never in my life cried over a book but this book made me bawl. It is a shorter book but holds so much power and meaning to it. I SERIOUSLY Recommend that you read this, and worry about the characters and sob over them and feel the joy also because though it is sad there is so much joy in it too. THIS IS REALLY AN INCREDIBLE BOOK! GO READ IT NOWWW! Great praise to Gary D. Schmidt

It's a very touching story. You really start to worry about the characters, who are written beautifully. There is some kind of childlike belief that people are good by their nature and that you can see if a person's good if a cow likes them.

I really like that you can read the book a bit before actually buying it because some books in bookshops don't let you do that and it was an amazing book and thank you for being awesome !! 💓
