This is a collection of 47 big-note, level 1 easy solos on old favorites designed to build technique, range, and endurance while maintaining student interest. These familiar folk tunes are fun to play and ideal as a supplement to any method. All the solos in this text may be played together in ensemble with the Fun with the Viola, Fun with the Cello, and Fun with the String Bass books. Basic information on parts of the violin and tuning is included. The tunes in this book provide an excellent source of practice material for learning note values, articulations, and dynamics. Bowings are included throughout the book.

O autorovi

William Bay received his undergraduate degree in business at Washington University in St. Louis and his MBA at the University of Missouri. He played trumpet and guitar professionally for many years and has authored hundreds of books on music education and performance. As president of Mel Bay Publications he has produced thousands of books dealing with an eclectic array of musical styles, genres and instruments and performed on many audio and video recordings. He is an accomplished composer and arranger. His books have sold in the millions. He was recently inducted into the Missouri Music Hall of Fame.
