A New Jersey boy must find his courage when he witnesses the Hindenburg disaster: “Excellent historical fiction for younger readers.” —School Library Journal

The Hindenburg was on its way! That was all nine-year old Stenny could think about as he pedaled his bike furiously toward the Naval Air Station on a rainy spring evening in 1937. He might get bad grades in arithmetic and be lousy at marbles, but Stenny knew everything there was to know about the Hindenburg—and when the giant airship arrived in his hometown of Lakehurst, New Jersey, he was going to be there. He didn’t know that before the night was over, he would learn what it means to be a hero . . .

“Presenting a vivid slice of late 1930s life, complete with radio dramas and concerns about Hitler's Germany, this chapter book succeeds in creating believable characters and an exciting story, as well as a sense of the times.” —Booklist

Praise for Candice Ransom’s novels

“This exciting and fast-paced tale will inspire its young readers.” —Kirkus Reviews

“Realistically drawn characters and down-to-earth dialogue.” —Publishers Weekly
