Quality is at the heart of organisational development. It is the one single reason organisations make progress or fail dismally when it is absent. Disruptions can both be a catalyst for innovation and progress on one hand, but when they are not well handled, they can cause organisations to spiral into catastrophe and oblivion. This book is about how best to safeguard quality both during and beyond disruptions. Based largely on research in South Africa, the collection of essays will resonate with multiple higher education contexts and audiences. The book’s central message is that while disruptions can expose our organisational weaknesses, they create several opportunities to drive change and transformation. About the author
Felix Maringe is a Professor of Higher Education and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of institutional development, research and innovation at the university of Kigali, Rwanda. He previously worked at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, as head and as Assistant Dean for Internationalisation and Partnerships at the Wits Faculty of Humanities. Felix researches in areas of globalisation, internationalisation and leadership in educational contexts of multiple deprivation.
Otilia Chiramba holds a PhD and currently serves as a research fellow at the University of Johannesburg, specialising in research related to higher education transformation, social justice, and resilience. She does research on the experiences of underprivileged students, curriculum development, pedagogical practices, and educational leadership. With over 25 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters to her name, her publication record is impressive, including her recent co-edited book titled “Online Teaching and Learning in the COVID-19 Era: Perspectives on Equity and Epistemic Justice”.
