About this ebook

A bewitching tale of heartbreak and hope set in 1920s Alaska, Eowyn Ivey's THE SNOW CHILD was a top ten bestseller in hardback and paperback, and went on to be a Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

'A story about finding love in unexpected places... full of fire and ice' Financial Times
'A magical, heartbreaking story' Marie Claire
'Stunning' The Times

Alaska, the 1920s. Jack and Mabel have staked everything on a fresh start in a remote homestead, but the wilderness is a stark place, and Mabel is haunted by the baby she lost many years before. When a little girl appears mysteriously on their land, each is filled with wonder, but also foreboding: is she what she seems, and can they find room in their hearts for her?

Written with the clarity and vividness of the Russian fairy tale from which it takes its inspiration, The Snow Child is an instant classic.

I really enjoyed this book. It's like a fairy tale for adults! Yes, it's simple and not a great deal happens but I love the description of the landscape & delicate images it conjures up. It was an ideal winter weekend read. That said I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much had it been taken on a summer holiday.

Sometimes you want a book that's not taxing but yet still engages you, and this does that. The story is generally well written with descriptive detail of the Alaskan setting. Characters can be easily imagined but a few more twists would have been good.

I quite enjoyed this movel. I found the characters to be all unique and well developed. I also loved the storyline, however, I felt that in some places it did drag on a little bit. Overall a very enjoyable book and good read :)
