Public speaking is oral communication spoken in front of large people that combines the skill of speaking and the art of speaking. That the combination between the skill of speaking and the art of speaking, public speaking needs two important aspects, they are; the speaking itself and the way how to deliver the speech. Most problems come from nonnative students on English in which they three big problems; first is the language itself, second is delivering the speech, third is building the confidence. So that, giving a speech in front of others in formal condition for them is not an easy way. People need great efforts to build up their confidence to speak in front of other and that worry, scare, shyness, confidence, and uncomfortableness are some factors that influence the students to communication. It is a big reason for us to design this book that can overcomes the students’ problems. However, there is no shortcut to get a success People also need sustained efforts to sharp their speaking ability and to train their verbal communication.
Public speaking or speaking in front of public, especially for beginners, needs good preparation. The preparation involves ideas and their organization and realization in words. The first step is to decide on the basic purpose or type of response desired from the audience since the choice and treatment of the subject depend on why a discourse is to be given. The general purposes of public speaking are to inform, to entertain and to persuade. To persuade includes to convince, to actuate and to stimulate. Two interrelated important points to be noted regarding with public speaking is stage fright and self-confidence. The condition troubling most speakers is fear, ranging from slight timidity to severe dread of addressing an audience. In daily life people usually talk freely without self-consciousness, but an individual getting up and facing a group is apt to suffer the upsetting apprehension known as stage fright.
