Some parts in this trilogy were harsh to read. Other chapters and events brought tears to my eyes. As brutal and unfeeling Eirik and Eldberg were each man held noble qualities. Elswyth's remarkable spirit along with her capacity as a healer guided her toward hope and forgiveness.

Vikings are powerful,revengeful and have lots of pride in what is theirs. They do not get emotional attachment right away but when they do they value the women and protect her. In this three part book the story is about a women named Elswyth . She throughout the stories is on a fight for her survival. The books contain blood, guts and gore, clan fights, revenge and kidnapping. Had to keep reading till done book to see what happens next. I love the writings of this author. This series is an attention getter and keeper. I can see some of the more realistic details which come out in this series for the time period. You will feel the brutality of the raids, betrayal, revenge, desire, love and a few surprises. The characters are brought to life and the storyline is strong and within your minds eye you will be able to envision the surroundings and the storyline as it unfolds. I went from one to another immediately wanting to see what happens next. I do recommend this series. I was gifted an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntarily and honest review.
