This is my second favourite book in the "Big Sky" miniverse. You've gotta love a hacker hero who names their ship the "Onoffonagain" XD I'm rather partial to a good bit of angst, & the hideous treatment of the iomales (cheers to Elsa Jade for exploring a tri-gender species!) provides that in spades.
