Marine Force Recon: A Military Romance

I really enjoyed this story! It was full of good characters and plenty of intrigue. We get action right away in the beginning of the book and I loved that introduction to the characters. We get to meet Charlie, the benefactor, Declan, the hero, and Grace, the heroine. This story was fun for me. Grace's roommate has gone missing and she knows something is wrong. Thankfully she was going to have a job interview with Charlie the next day and Charlie puts Declan on the job. There was plenty of action and intrigue with this story as we try and figure out what happened to the roommate. Was she kidnapped, what was she involved in, does it have to do with work, did she disappear on her own.... The story had a great flow and kept you asking these questions and interested in the story. The sex is fairly explicit and does not take up much of the story. This one focuses more on the suspense aspect of things and the interactions between the characters outside the bedroom. It also takes place in a short amount of time so that worked for me. It fit the story and what was going on. I'm excited to read the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A entertaining blend of action, adventure, suspense and romance fuels this enjoyable read. I liked Declan and Grace and their chemistry. An interesting cast of secondary characters leaves plenty of room for more books in this series.

5 Stars Declan’s Defenders book 1 Romantic Suspense Spicy/slow burn This book blew me away! Wow, just wow! I don't read a lot of Harlequin books these days but Elle James is one of my favorite authors so when she has a new one out, I usually read it. Marine Force Recon is part of the Harlequin Intrigue line and it is a great story. I'm not sure I've ever read a book that started out with so much action and it didn't stop there. There definitely is a romantic element to this story but I'd call it a slow burn and the romance doesn't happen until pretty far into it. When the time came things got pretty sexy. 😊 I'm not going to rehash the blurb as it does a great job of describing the story. For me, this book was so full of heart-pounding action that I couldn't put it down once I'd started. Marine Force Recon is the first book in the Declan's Defenders series and I can't wait to read more.
