Grief and mourning are generally considered to be private, yet universal instincts. David Kennedy is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Hull. He is the editor of Necessary Steps: Poetry, Elegy, Walking, Spirit; and publishes widely on contemporary poetry.
