The retrograde glyph is the doctor's sign for a prescription, but it is also the spiritual signpost or omen of the approaching Path. The omen can only be read and appreciated by those who have eyes (spiritual insight) to see it. Such people are ready for the Path or have already taken it.
The twelve ruling planets are descriptive of human consciousness. In the man who sees to look elsewhere than the material world for his expression and inspiration, his retrogressions are equated with spiritual opportunity. Planets become 'sacred' when they go into retrograde motion, providing the individual is sufficiently developed to respond to these retrograding qualities; certainly some of humanity is unable to put them to any significant use.
It is possible to give catchwords and phrases to retrograde planets, and these can be very much simplified for the purpose of cursory interpretations of charts. Spiritual awareness, however, requires that we provide backup for the general, overall meanings of them. This takes the form of detailed references to 144 horoscopes, coveringNeptuneretrograde through all the Signs and Houses. These interpretations are in most instances carefully parsed to show that meanings are not arbitrary but very specific, and exactly corresponding to the aspect being interpreted.

As medical advisor to the De la Warr laboratories in Oxford, I have undertook research into Biomagnetism and quantum physics their effects on the human aura and dark matter, producing the book by the same name in conjunction with George de la Warr.
Throughout the years you have given more than 15,000 lectures and attracted people from all over the world to your Esoteric Science Festivals and International Summer Schools in America, Canada, England, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
I have established Claregate College, first in America in 1972 and later in England in 1977 and encouraged many hundreds of people to systematize their esoteric studies by attending, courses, seminars, and through the Claregate Correspondence Course.
His transformative experiences during the Second World War, when severely wounded, set the pattern for his life long investigations into the Powers Latent in Man.
His extensive esoteric writings are said to be the largest collection in the world produced by a living author. He has written over 100 books, many of which have been translated into the 7 European languages at www.douglasbaker.com, and his list of downloadable MP3 audio lectures available at www.douglasbaker.org, include 400 live lectures given around the world and on a vast range of subjects.
He has led the field in esoteric astrology, producing with a team, his magnum opus, a Dictionary of Astrology for the 21st Century in three volumes. This is in addition to the already existing 11 volume set of books on the same subject.
