The tremendous variety of images ranges from male and female hands engaged in work and leisure activities to the hands of athletes, babies, and the elderly.

Victor Perard was an acclaimed artist, illustrator, and teacher who emigrated from Paris to the United States in the 1930s. He lived in Vermont and painted portraits and landscapes of the surrounding areas.
