Seit öffentliche Rede im Zuge ihrer Konzentration auf mediale Übertragung und Reproduktion allein der sogenannten Medienkompetenz zugerechnet wird, ist ein hoher Formatierungsdruck zu beobachten. Er lässt die Worte der Rede druckreif gestanzt und ihren körperlichen Ausdruck eintrainiert erscheinen und hat verschiedene Stereotypen ausgebildet. Derartig Redenden will man nicht recht Glauben schenken. Denn hinter der Formalisierung verschwindet der Mensch als Zeuge seiner Worte. Er ist nicht mehr erkennbar. Die Verbindung zum Menschen, der spricht, ist unterbrochen. Um diesem Dilemma zu entkommen, müsste man den sprechenden Menschen rekonstruieren – das heißt: seinen Körper rhetorisch ins Spiel bringen. Dabei spielen die Hände eine im buchstäblichen Sinne herausragende Rolle. [Rhetorica] Since public speech has been attributed solely to so-called media competence in the course of its concentration on media transmission and reproduction, a high formatting pressure can be observed. It makes the words of the speech appear ready for print and their physical expression trained, and has developed various stereotypes. One does not really want to believe such speakers. Because behind the formalization, the person disappears as a witness to their words. They are no longer recognizable. The connection to the person speaking is interrupted. In order to escape this dilemma, one would have to reconstruct the person speaking – in other words, bring their body into play rhetorically. The hands literally play a prominent role in this.

Dietrich Sagert, Dr. phil., Jahrgang 1963, studierte Theologie, Philosophie, Musik und Theater. Er wurde im Bereich Kulturwissenschaft über Andrej Tarkowskij (HU Berlin) promoviert und arbeitete als Theaterregisseur u.a. in Paris und Luxemburg. Derzeit ist er Referent für Redekunst/Rhetorik am Zentrum für evangelische Gottesdienst- und Predigtkultur der EKD in Wittenberg. Sagert lebt in Berlin.
