Dexter in the Dark

The 3rd book in the Dexter series, Dexter in the Dark was a decent read, but is not as good as the earlier two novels. This book focuses on the being Dexter refers to as the "Dark Passenger" and the author delves into a more supernatural quality to the Passenger, giving it a personality and other entities like it. I have to say, I didn't really care for that aspect. The "murder mystery" section that has been a part of all the Dexter novels was really lacking in this one. There was substantial build up that didn't really seem to pan out. However, Mr. Lindsay succeeds in giving Dexter such a unique and loveable voice, and I still found myself reading along, entertained by the pages. You can't help but like the Dark Avenger Dexter as he muddles about his relationships with others, slashing and hacking his way through society's underbelly. Where the plot falls, Dexter pulls us through. I will continue to read this series. Even though I'm an avid fantasy reader/lover, I hope that Mr. Lindsay steers away from adding more supernatural elements to these books. Dexter doesn't need it, he's cool all on his own.

Listen how crazy can u be to sit here and judge a fictional character..These books are amazing all of them!..also to the ppl that try to compare the show and the book well guess what the show only fallows the first book all seasons after one are made up by the ppl that bought book 1 ....jeeze the ppl that write the show don't even read the books!...I truly believe they need to read them bc look at all you ppl trying to compare something that has a completely different plot...watch the show first

Well this was not quite the way I was expecting the series to go. I’m not so sure I really liked the supernatural-like elements. I did like Dex’s sense of humor. I laughed out loud a few times. His relationship with the children and his sister is interesting also. I’m continuing the series for sure.
