About the author
Pastor Deborah Toney was born in Birmingham, Alabama. The second of eleven children, she was raised in a single parent home with a devout family environment - with strong centered values. It was there, the strong and deep seeded ideals, which led her conversion to Christianity at an early age.
Pastor Toney acknowledges her father played a strong role in her childhood and encouraging her belief in Christ. She also credits her mother and grandmother for their leadership roles in the church. Pastor Toney comes from a long line of pastors and ministers in her family. Her mother and grandmother she considers personal mentors as she grew up.
Continuing through her adult years both women encouraged her to sing, speak, teach, usher, serve, give, pray, and believe. This led, at the age of 19, Pastor Toney to begin teaching intermediate Sunday school class. From this foundation was born - It’s Just Jesus Ministries located today in Helena, Alabama.
Pastor Toney is a graduate of the University of Alabama system with a B.S. Degree in Business Education and a minor in English. In addition to the ministry, Pastor Toney also serves with the Alabama Department of Corrections, enjoying over 27 years of service.
