Dr. Debasis Samanta was awarded Ph. D. in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India for his work on organic synthesis and surface functionalization at NCL, Pune (2000-2003) and IACS, Kolkata (2003-2005). After working as Research Associate in NDSU, USA (2005-2006), UMass, Amherst, USA (2006-2009) and IACS, Kolkata, India; he joined CSIR-CLRI, Chennai, India in 2011, where he is currently serving as Principal Scientist and Associate Professor (AcSIR). The work by his research group is focused on functionalization of surfaces, synthesis of novel polymers and their applications. He has published 52 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals, two book chapters and granted two patents. In 2020, He has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Chennai.
