Odd Hours: An Odd Thomas Novel

It seems that DK writes a hit, then a drag, then a hit, then a drag. That's been my review of the Odd series so far. This wasn't a bad book, It just didn't engage me. The female Odd was tasked to save was uninspired. Maybe there is further to tell about her in the next Odd book, but she seemed to be pointless to the story. The other characters were great. The supporting character like Hutch was awesome to read about, but also made to feel like he had no purpose to the story, other than explain where Odd found residence. His willingness to give Odd a whole lot after just a months employ... Wow! This book is essentially Odd against those importing nuclear weapons to take out multiple cities. It's the story, like all the Odds before it, of Odds crazy journey through a very fast few hours. Sinatra was barely in this and is already gone! Boo is still here and he is still awesome. Murphy's addition was also very welcome and can't wait to see what help he provides in the next book. 2.5/5.

Not that I dislike Odd Thomas. I really enjoy the writing style Koontz uses in the series (written as a kind of memoir of Odd). But I never really got too involved with the characters. I think it had to do with the way the first book ended. I'm still a little bitter about that. Overall, this one is certainly my second favorite of the series. It was weird not having Elvis around, but you can't win 'em all, right? Oh, and just to jog my memory in the future, this is the one where Odd is on the coast trying to stop some nuclear mayhem from getting into the good 'ole U.S. of A.

Easy read. The only thing is have to complain about is the way the author tosses in these random words that seem to be picked from a thesaurus, like the Latin name for a plum tree. Really? Aside from that I've enjoyed the series so far.
