About the author

Professor David Wurfel has taught Political Science at the University of Windsor since 1968. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Government and Asian Studies from Cornell University, and has taught previously at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), the University of Missouri (Columbia), the University of Singapore and the International Christian University (Tokyo). A member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Society for Asian Studies, he was founding Chairman of its affiliated canadian Council for Southeast Asian Studies
