About the author

Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822) was one of England’s greatest Romantic poets and a visionary thinker. Best known for works like Ozymandias, Prometheus Unbound, and Adonais, he was a radical in politics, religion, and lifestyle. Deeply influenced by Enlightenment philosophy and Eastern thought, Shelley championed nonviolence, social reform, and personal liberty. His A Vindication of Natural Diet was written when he was just 21, foreshadowing today’s ethical and health-driven plant-based movements. Though he died young, Shelley’s ideals on compassion and natural living continue to inspire generations.
