I became invested in the lives of all the main characters. Because I identify (unfortunately and fortunately) with them and their circumstances. So, Ms. Hoover and her fans should understand that her books (I've read several now, my 1st "romance" novels) are not just entertainment, they are also thoughtful and often very serious. FYI the sexual content is believable therefore relevant.
