Great read but absolutely harrowing in parts. I would never visit Thailand, you could innocently get caught up in the penal system, just because your exploitation could profit a corrupt official. Still, this book was uplifting and inspiring in parts. A great testament to a man’s resilience, when faced with the worst circumstances imaginable.

I bought this ebook as I left Phuket Airport, and couldn't stop reading - I finished it the same day. Very little people can imagine what he and many others have experienced. As I was reading through the chapters, I waited for the justice to prevail, just like he did week in and week out. It's a good read.

I presently live in the Philippines and have traveled to Thailand. This book is very realistic. Never get involved with the prisons whether in Thailand or any (especially 3rd world) country. It would be nice if Colin would come out with a sequel. His life after his prison experience in Thailand.

About the author
Colin Martin was born in Liverpool, England and worked all over the world as a welder before going to Thailand. On arrival in Bangkok he was swindled out of half a million pounds. Martin didn't go home however, and began searching for the conman. When he eventually tracked him down a fight took place and a member of the gang was killed. Martin ended up being arrested for murder, denied a fair trial and spent 8 years in prison.
