Negli anni '50 – '60 l'apprendimento linguistico era definito come l'apprendimento di nuove abitudini. Si notò come alcuni comportamenti linguistici fossero più difficili da essere rimossi rispetto altri. Questi interferivano con l'apprendimento della seconda lingua e questa interferenza linguistica viene individuata in certe abitudini linguistiche provenienti dalla lingua madre. Noteremo insieme le difficoltà di apprendimento della lingua spagnola per un italiano.
