Meeting Gina, the dog rescuer is a treat, she's funny without trying hard to be, she's curious and can't seem to keep out of trouble. While following a dog that keeps running away, Gina walked into a tree trunk that knocked her out for a couple of minutes. When she came to she heard a voice and realized that it was the dog talking to her. At the end Daisy, the talking dog stays with Gina permanently. When someone got murdered and the police chief set her mind on Gina's brother, Vic, being the murderer she decided to investigate and find the murderer to clear her brothers name. Together with the deputy Trevor and her talking dog they solved the case. In book 2 one of Gina's friends is accused of murder and she and Daisy help her friend find the truth. In book 3 another murder was committed and again Gina got roped in to help Trevor find the culprit. This series is charming, a page-turner with lots of funny episodes and mystery. In my opinion a must read for cozy mysteries fans.

Heywood Hounds Books 1-3 includes the first half of the Talking Dog Cozy Mystery series. In this series, Gina Dunner is a dog rescuer who finds that she can communicate with one of her dogs, Daisy. When murders occur, the local police can't be counted on to solve the crimes, so it is up to Gina and Daisy sniff out the clues and solve the murders. These are fun cozy mysteries with clever characters and interesting sub plots. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review

Carly Winters, author of four cozy mystery series tops herself with the Heywood Hounds Mysteries. Dog rescuer Gina Dunner can actually "hear" her dog Daisy telepathically talk to her. The police chief is lazy and can't be trusted to investigate a crime properly. so when Gina's family and friends become suspects, she needs to step in and solve the mystery herself. I enjoyed the Heywood Herbalist series, but this one is even more fun. Gina is a spunky sleuth and her dog Daisy is adorable
