Incendiary romance! Brett and Gemma are both arson investigators - he works for ATF, while she works for NICB. After meeting at a suspicious warehouse fire, Gemma convinces him that there's a larger conspiracy and she needs his - or rather, the ATF's - help to get to the bottom of it. Their partnership is both personally and professionally combustible, and they have to balance their attraction to each other with the unexpected threats they encounter as a result of their investigation. I really loved the chemistry between Brett and Gemma. Even though they each are committed to working alone, their friendship quickly goes from, "I can't do a relationship" to "I can't live without you." And it's not just the pitfalls of a romantic relationship that threaten them. I appreciated that the story delved into Brett's past experiences and showed how those directed his current efforts. Gemma's family was a delight, and I loved the way the family's deli was worked into the story. This author does an outstanding job of writing federal agents with K9 partners, and this book's darling is Blaze, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who specializes in sniffing out accelerants. I guarantee you'll fall in love with this TV-watching cuddlebug. Brett also has the assistance of his friends, Deck and Evan, along with Deck's fiance, Tori. Set a few months after the events of the first book, I really enjoyed getting an update on Tori and Deck as well as getting to know Evan a little bit more. The author clearly has done a tremendous amount of research in putting this story together, and I was instantly drawn into the complex story. The investigation has more twists and turns than a roller coaster and it took me quite a while after I was done reading it to process all the assorted details to resolve the case. The HEA was perfect, and I loved the way he won her back in the end. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Brilliant: I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was curious to see how it would all play out. The investigation progressed at a good pace with just the right amount of information and action to keep things interesting. Whilst part of a series, it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone. Both Brett and Gemma had some personal issues to work through and I enjoyed watching them move from work partners to forever partners. Of course Brett's K-9 partner stole the show and I thought it was hilarious how he liked to watch TV as my puppy is the same! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I have started seeking out Tee O'Fallon books. She is an excellent author! It took me longer to read this than I wanted because of life interruptions. I plan to read it again in one sitting on one of my vacation days during the holidays. I loved the storyline and the characters were easy to like. I enjoyed the push/pull between Brett and Gemma. I was completely invested in the outcome of the case as well as the romance. I'd give more than five stars if I could! Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.
