About the author

Brian Lavery is Curator Emeritus at the National Maritime Museum, London and has published over thirty books on many different aspects of ships and seafaring. A highly respected maritime historian, he has appeared on programmes such as Time Team and Timewatch and has been a consultant on many documentaries and the blockbuster Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
