Die Folge ist eine schwere Sturmflut an der gesamten deutschen Nordseeküste, bei der das Hochwasser Rekordhöhen erreicht. Die Hamburger werden im Schlaf überrascht. Über 300 Menschen sterben bei der verheerenden Sturmflut. Aber auch für eine Frau aus dem Allgäu soll dieser Tag ein Schicksalstag werden.
