À propos de cet e-book

Biometric Image Discrimination Technologies addresses highly relevant issues to many fundamental concerns of both researchers and practitioners of biometric image discrimination (BID) in biometric applications. This book describes the basic concepts necessary for a good understanding of BID and answers some important introductory questions about BID.
Biometric Image Discrimination Technologies covers the theories which are the foundations of basic BID technologies, while developing new algorithms which are verified to be more effective in biometrics authentication. This book will assist students new to the field and will also be useful to senior researchers in this area. This book is a part of the Computational Intelligence and its Applications Series.

À propos de l'auteur

David Zhang graduated in computer science from Peking University (1974). He received his MSc in computer science in 1982 and PhD in 1985 from the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). From 1986 to 1988, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Tsinghua University and then an associate professor at the Academia Sinica (Beijing). In 1994, he received his second PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Waterloo, (Ontario, Canada). Currently, he is a chair professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he is the founding Director of the Biometrics Technology Centre (UGC/CRC) supported by the Hong Kong SAR government in 1998. He also serves as a visiting chair professor in Tsinghua University, and an adjunct professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beihang University, HIT and the University of Waterloo. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Image and Graphics (IJIG); book editor of the "Springer International Series on Biometrics" (SISB); organizer of the International Conference on Biometrics 2004 and 2006 (ICBA 2004 and ICB 2006); associate editor of more than 10 international journals, including IEEE Transactions on SMC-A/SMC-C/Pattern Recognition ; chair of IEEE/CIS Technical Committee on Intelligent System Application; and the author of more than 10 books and 160 journal papers. Professor Zhang is a Croucher Senior Research Fellow, Distinguished Speaker of the IEEE Computer Society, and Fellow of the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR). Jian Yang obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the Xuzhou Normal University in 1995. He then continued to complete a Masters of Science degree in Applied Mathematics at the Changsha Railway University in 1998 and his PhD at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) in the Department of Computer Science on the subject of Pattern Recognition and Intelligence Systems in 2002. From January to December in 2003, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zaragoza and affiliated with the Division of Bioengineering of the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research (I3A). In the same year, he was awarded the RyC program Research Fellowship, sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. Now, he is a professor at the Department of Computer Science of NUST and, at the same time, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Biometrics Centre of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
