A very good and easy read, perfect for those learning English. It has all of it: romance, detective, and thriller. It's about one man's fight against corrupt and inhuman russian regime, his struggle for justice and most importantly, it's a true story about greed, lies, hatred, and also courage, strength and honorable values to oppose that. And what speaks to me the most, the book perfectly shows the vast difference between Western and slavish post-soviet mentality. A must read IMO.

A truly fantastic real life, eye-opening read. Mr Browder and all involved in exposing a truly heinous regime, which is responsible for many, many atrocities, are very brave people. Long may Mr Browder and his team continue to pursue criminals around the world who deem themselves above the law. They use their positions of power to steal, threaten, blackmail, intern and murder, may they be brought to justice irrespective of the positions they hold... "Freezing Order" is the next book which carries on with the story up until 2022 and brings more insights to some of the very corrupt world we live in today.

Fascinating read which truly illustrates the corruption of Putin's Russia. Although the story is sad at times, Mr Browder's actions and accomplishments are a source of inspiration throughout this book.

About the author
Sir Bill Browder, founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005, when he was denied entry to the country after exposing widespread corruption. Since 2009, when his lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was murdered in Russian police custody, he has been leading a campaign to impose visa bans and asset freezes on human rights abusers and highly corrupt officials. The United States was the first to impose these sanctions with the passage of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act in 2012. This was followed by the US Global Magnitsky Act in 2016. Since then, Canada, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have all passed their own versions of the Magnitsky Act. Browder is currently working to have similar legislation passed across the European Union and other countries around the world. He received a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honour's List in June 2024.
