Nietzsche considered this book, along with "Thus Spoke Zarathustra," his main works, encompassing a greater multiplicity of subjects and reflections. Nietzsche defined this book to his friend Jacob Burckhardt: "I ask you to read this book (although it says the same things as my Zarathustra, but in a different way, very different)..."
