Its a really really good book to read in order to understand the uses of microbiology in a professional space as well as for beginners who are trying to take a microbio. class or just get some small insight. Essentially it is what it specifies in the title...it provides basic knowledge of how aspects of microbiology impact the environment and living organisms (including us) in a good and negative way (viruses..etc). The only downside of this and which is why i give it like a 3.9⭐ is because there are grammar problems which completely throw you off when reading. This especially occurs when there are run-on sentences that just don't stop so you end up wondering if it is a long sentence or the author forgot to add serious amounts of periods. Still, for the price, it's not bad.
