I guess you can say that I read some truly dark stories because this was a really good book but I didn't consider it really dark. Maybe a little murky. Maisie is crazy AF for trusting Wilder and staying with him. I'm really hoping that Sawyers book is next with Fiona. I will say I definitely was not disappointed in this book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I know this was described as a slow burn, but I devoured it in one day, I was completely engrossed in the story. The book begins with an arranged marriage between Maisie (the FMC) and Wilder (the MMC). Maisie is a sex worker, and Wilder's family owns a farm with some… interesting activities. There are definitely a couple of twists in this book that I never saw coming, but they were executed so well. I would highly recommend this book, especially if arranged marriage is a trope you love.

The mmc doesn't seem that bad to start off with like in most arranged marriages he didn't want the inconvenience of a wife. The fmc isn't a quitter though and wants her reward for the marriage. They both come from a traumatic past and they show each other that someone loves him and somebody wants him. This book will have you questioning yourself about what arouses you. Waterboarding should not be sexy but somehow Audrey made sure it was. A great read for dark romance women and a HEA ending. CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS! What might not bother me could have you writing a bias review.
