This short story is the prequel to the Feyland series. It is reasonably well-written but a bit disjointed in places, possibly because it was written after the first few books in the series and so may assume some knowledge that new readers won't have. Books about players in a game being transported into the game world are hardly a new concept - Andre Norton wrote Quag Keep in 1978, and there may have been some before then - but this one is slightly different as our heroine is able to transition back and forth without actually realising she is in another world. I am absolutely not the target audience for this series, it is a YA series and that certainly made it harder for me to get into it initially, although I found I was enjoying it more by the end of the story.

Amazing. There is fantastical imagery, flawless vocabulary, clear explanations, a conspicuous fine hand. I cherish Anthea Sharp...she certainly knows her stuff! An approximate summary: Jennet is just an ordinary girl. (By the seems of it.) When she discovers the pristine Feyland computer game, developed fully by VirtuMax, her entire life changes, just by prowling rigidly within the heart of the fairy forest.

This book drew me in immediately. Video games & stories about the fae, who can beat that combination! The story & characters combine very well together. You would never guess that two worlds could collide in such an amazing way.
