This gripping young adult fiction encourages readers to use their imagination and interact with the texts. The stories are supported by creative tasks in which students can integrate all their language skills, use computer technology, practise learning strategies and exercise autonomy.

About the author

Andrzej Cirocki is a Teaching Fellow in Language Education at the University of York where his responsibilities include supervising dissertations on the MA TESOL programme. He is a CELTA teacher and CELTA teacher trainer and previously lectured in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and at the University of Gdansk, Poland. Dr. Cirocki holds an MA in English Philology and a PhD in Linguistics and TEFL and an MA in Applied Linguistics and TEFL. In addition to being author of numerous publications and being actively involved in research work, he is also editor-in-chief of The European Journal of Applied Linguistics and TEFL.

Alicia Peña Calvo teaches Spanish and Applied Linguistics. Her interests lie in the fields of language learning and teaching, curriculum and materials design and development, first and second language acquisition and bilingualism and biculturalism. She has collaborated with The Open University as a consultant, materials writer, external examiner and critical reviewer. She has published various articles on aspects of second language acquisition, including vocabulary learning at different levels, the impact of study abroad on language development and the use of language learning strategies.
