Im vorliegenden Band werden Ambrosius' Totenreden für die beiden Kaiser Valentinian II. und Theodosius I. in einer neuen, die handschriftliche Überlieferung in ihrer Breite berücksichtigenden Edition vorgelegt. Da in einigen Codices gemeinsam mit diesen beiden 'Kaiserreden' auch die Auslegung von Psalm 61 (der letzte Text der Explanatio psalmorum XII, ed. M. Petschenig, CSEL 64) als De obitu Gratiani überliefert wird und dieser Überlieferungszweig in der Edition der Explanatio psalmorum XII unbeachtet geblieben war, wird auch dieser Text mit ausführlicher Einleitung neu ediert.
