Alexis Abbott grabbed my attention at the beginning and kept till the end. There was suspense, action and some romance. I felt the attraction between Charity and Jake. I also knew there was more to Jake than we were seeing. Charity is quiet, sheltered and innocent. She wants more for herself and is trying to break away from her parents. She is taking small steps toward this. Jake is the epitome of bad boy, but yet we could see his heart. For me this was a fun read. I did feel the ending was a little rushed. I felt a little unfulfilled I had many questions as to how Charity's parents dealt with her and Jake. I received an ARC edition for a honest and voluntary review.

In the wrong place at the wrong time Charity finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s too bad she’s heard enough of the conversation of the two discussing murder while she’s under the hotel bed trying to get at her locket she lost earlier. It’s too late for Charity to get away. Jake the hitman notices her and that just complicates his job. Jake doesn’t hurt women and children, so he has no recourse but to take Charity along for the ride. Jake notices the wide-eyed innocence as Charity takes in everything from the motorcycle ride, to high-end shopping. Charity decides to help Jake and the story unfolds into non-stop action. The Assassin’s Heart has compelling characters, intense action and a storyline that will hold you at the edge of your seat. Alexis Abbott brings us another action-packed story with a bad guy with a big heart and a heroine that makes want to be a better man. Great job, Ms. Abbott. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
