About the author
Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) est d'abord clerc de notaire, mais ses talents d'écriture le placent bientôt sous la protection du duc d'Orléans. Dramaturge puis romancier, c'est avec ses romans-feuilletons qu'il connaît un réel succès. Il est le père de personnages mythiques tels que Les trois mousquetaires et Le comte de Monte-Cristo.
