About this ebook

Refraxions brings together fiction, poetry, and nonfiction that resist easy labels. As the successor to the Contemporary Poetry & Prose series, this anthology continues to offer space for voices that need to be heard. There’s no single theme holding it together, only a quiet urgency that runs through each piece. What connects them is not uniformity, but the freedom to speak in their own terms.

Not Easy Anymore by Gayathri Babu touched my heart deeply. It beautifully captures the shift from the comfort of home to the reality of independent life. Every line feels personal—the small things we once took for granted now become daily struggles. The poem speaks of growth, resilience, and the bittersweet feeling of missing home yet knowing you can’t stay there forever. It’s honest, relatable, and lingers long after reading. Truly a heartfelt reminder of what it means to grow up.

Reading the poem not easy anymore reminds me of home. It speaks of loneliness in the search of being an independent person. This poem captures the emotions and feelings of an immigrant far from home.
