His most famous works include: "The Autobiography of a Cad", arguably amongst the funniest books ever written; "Lords and Masters", a blunt and prescient satire, and "Napoleon and His Marshals" (1934), which is considered to be amongst the best accounts of the Napoleonic Wars ever written.
