Although the word parapsychology suggests a field of research that exists "beside psychology," its studies are not only related to psychology but to religion, anthropology, physics, and other areas as well. Parapsychology's history may be divided into three periods: from prehistory to the latter part of the nineteenth century; the last three decades of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth; and the present period. 作者简介

MARTIN EBON (1917–2006) served as administrative secretary of the Parapsychology Foundation from 1953 to 1962. He was managing editor of Tomorrow magazine (1953-1965) and of the International Journal of Parapsychology (1959-1962), as well as editor of Spiritual Frontiers (1969-1970).
