his is a collection of 18 of Desai`s short stories. The stories were published earlier. But Mehta categorized the stories subject wise and published them under the heading of Ashadh in Jan. 1989. These stories have a rural background. The language is used very appropriately. It takes us to the village life immediately. Each story has a different story to tell. They all reveal different moods, different aspects of human mind. This human mind is sometimes very soft, sometimes difficult, yet sometimes it handles things delicately. The more you read the more difficult it becomes to understand the nature of village people. When you feel that they are concerned about each other they stood to be different, when you feel that they hardly bother about anyone else, they reveal the softest corner of their mind. They reveal the simplicity, they unmask diplomacy of unimagined turns, they betray us, they confide in us.
निसर्ग आणि माणूस यांच्यात एक अनोखे नाते आहे. निसर्गाच्या ऋतूंप्रमाणेच माणसाचे मनही रंग बदलत असते.
हीच कल्पना उचलून रणजित देसाई यांनी आपल्या सिद्धहस्त लेखणीतून अनेक कथा लिहिल्या आणि त्यांना ऋतूंची नावे दिली. जसे वैशाख, आषाढ, मेघ. ग्रामीण पाश्र्वभूमीवर चितारलेल्या या कथा माणसातल्या सर्व भावभावनांचं प्रत्ययकारी दर्शन घडवतात. निसर्गाच्या ऋतुचक्राचे माणसांच्या दैनंदिन जीवनावर आणि मनावरही जे पडसाद उमटतात ते लेखकाने आपल्या लेखणीत अचूक पकडले आहेत. लालित्यपूर्ण शैलीतल्या या कथा वाचून आणि अनुभवून रणजित देसाई हे आपल्या काळातील एक थोर साहित्यिक आहेत याचा उत्कट प्रत्यय वाचकांना येईल.
