Originally published in 1902, "The Monkey's Paw" is a classic horror short story written by author W. W. Jacobs. In the story, the paw of a dead monkey is a talisman that grants its possessor three wishes, but the wishes come with an enormous price.

W. W. Jacobs (1863â1943) is considered a master of the macabre tale, mostly for his work The Monkeyâs Paw, a classic horror short story. He was a master at weaving terror and suspense into scenes of everyday life. Nevertheless, his popularity in his own lifetime arose mostly due to his amusing maritime tales of life along the London docks.
