AUDIO REVIEW: After listening to Try Right I have to ask myself why Jill Brasher hasn’t crossed my radar before now but that’s about to change because I will certainly be checking out her other works as soon as time permits. This is book 3 in the Aloha Series but Claudia and Henry’s love story can certainly be enjoyed as a stand-alone. Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright did a wonderful job bring the characters and their story to life. Claudia is in Hawaii to film a bit part in the TV series she is working on and finding herself struggling with her career she decides to find her first love Henry, a stuntman who lives on Hawaii. From the moment these two meet sparks fly, the attraction is instant and the chemistry is sizzling so what happens when they could go from friends to lovers, what happens when lines are crossed ……. Try Right will appeal to a wide range of audiences, I adored the characters, I loved going back to 1968 and I really enjoyed the descriptive writing ( I felt like I was on the.Island) but the narration took this book to another level . So I guess all I need to say is please one click this gem.

4 star review of Try Right (Aloha #3) by Jill Brashear AUDIO REVIEW: Jill Brashear is a new author to me and why that is I have no idea. Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright I was quickly drawn into Try Right, the third book in the Aloha series. They did justice to the characters and were easy to listen to with voices that are pleasant and engaging. Claudia, a once well known Hollywood actress is in Hawaii to film a part in a TV series. She wants to use the opportunity to catch up with her first love, Keoni. Henry is a stunt man on the film and from the moment he sets eyes on Claudia, he is immediately attracted to her. As their friendship develops, lines are crossed. The chemistry between them is intense and it was entertaining to watch them move from friends to lovers. The characters were engaging and easy to relate to and I fell hard and fast for Henry. Their relationship was rocky but it was fun to watch it play out. This was my first time listening/reading a retro book and I enjoyed it. The writing was descriptive and I could easily envisage being in Hawaii along for the ride with Claudia and Henry.

This is a delightfully charming and entertaining retro Hawaiian romance set in 1968 and I loved everything about it, from Jill Brashear’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are likable and easy to care about too. In 1962, Claudia and her cousin Mary were in Honolulu celebrating their graduation, a weeklong vacation, and a close call during a surfing lesson changed her outlook on her future and her acting career. . She also fell for her savior, her surf instructor, Keoni Makai and despite not liking tourists, he could not deny the chemistry he had with Claudia. The story fast forwards to 1968 and we learn Claudia did as she said, she left Minnesota and headed to Hollywood. Unfortunately, a scandal puts a damper on her career but her agent gets her an acting gig that films in Hawaii and she takes the job thinking it is the perfect opportunity to find and reconnect with the only man who ever made her feel special, Keoni. Henry, a stuntman, has a heart of gold, he loves his job but is looking to advance his career into directing stunts. He is also interested in finding that special someone to spend time with and when he first meets her, Janice, he feels the spark and thinks she may be the one. But it turns out her real name is Claudia, and she is the new Hollywood actress they brought in from Hollywood to who is starring in the same show he is working in. Henry wants her, but she has her mind set on finding and reconnecting with Keoni, while it is discouraging he still does not give up on her. I loved how everything played out in this book, the author captures the does a great job taking us back in time, no cell phones, how they treated woman differently, kudos to Claudia for holding her own and what was playing on the radio, shot out to Van Morrison’s “Brown Eye Girl”. Jill Brashear, thank you for this fabulous story & emotional rollercoaster ride! 🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Jill Brashear chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright are mega talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Mackenzie Cartwright nailed it as Claudia, Teddy Hamilton did the same for Henry, both were great performing the roles of the secondary character’s roles as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers take an already great story to another level of greatness. Thank you for another amazing listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your audiobooks.
