Amy Timberlake is a bestselling children's author. Her work has received a Newbery Honor, an Edgar and a Golden Kite Award. One book was chosen to be a Book Sense Pick, and another was reviewed in The New York Times Book Review. Her books have made several 'best books of the year' lists, and she loves it whenever her books are chosen to be part of a state reading list. Chicago's Lifeline Theatre has adapted both One Came Home and The Dirty Cowboy for the stage.

Michael Patrick Boatman is an Image Award–nominated American actor and writer. He is best known for his roles in the ABC sitcom Spin City, the ABC drama series China Beach, and in the HBO sitcom Arli$$. Also a screenwriter and novelist, Boatman's books include a collection of short stories, God Laughs When You Die and the humours horror novel The Revenant Road. He has narrated many audiobooks, including Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom and Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins series.
