Wallace Kaufman

Award winning writer Wallace Kaufman follows his own memoir, Coming Out of the Woods, with this multi-generation history of two families--Bohemian Jews and English ragpickers, farmers, masons, and poets who merge in America. His other books include a history of environmental thinking, a book on houses, a social and natural history of American beaches, and a guide to invasive plants, co-authored with his daughter Dr. Sylvan Ramsey Kaufman. Kaufman lives in western Oregon, frequently working in Central Asia and the former Soviet Union.
