Tilda Shalof was a staff nurse in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Toronto General Hospital of the University Health Network for thirty years and held a variety of clinical positions at UHN until her recent retirement. Her best-selling memoir, A Nurse's Story: Life, Death, and In-Between in an Intensive Care Unit, has been translated into many languages, and has a global readership. Shalof was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal 2025 for her contribution to nursing education.
