Kathleen Armour

Richard Bailey is an academic and consultant in sport and education. A former teacher, he has been a Professor at Canterbury and Roehampton, and most was recently appointed Founding Chair in Sport and Education at the University of Birmingham. Dr Bailey was Director of the most comprehensive review ever published on the Benefits of Physical Education and Sport (2007-2008), Co-director of the UKâs independent review of player development in sport (2008-2009), and advisor for the Agency for Cooperation in Secondary Education in post-conflict societies (2006-2008). In 2004 he was selected by delegates from more than 200 countries to act as Rapporteur for UNESCOâs Athens Declaration. He is the author of more than 100 research papers, articles and reports, and has written or co-written 14 books on sport and / or education topics.Kathleen Armour is currently Professor and Director of Research in the School of Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences at Loughborough University. From 1st April, she will be taking up a Chair in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham. Kathy's research interests centre on the ways in which teachers and coaches learn, and should be supported to learn, throughout their careers. She has led numerous funded research projects in the field using a range of research methods.
