Carl Little

Carl Little is the author of more than thirty art books, including The Watercolors of John Singer Sargent and Edward Hopper's New England, as well as monographs on Joel Babb, Irene Hardwicke Olivieri, Jeffery Becton, John Moore, and others. Former associate editor at Art in America, Little writes for Art New England, Hyperallergic, Maine Arts Journal, and Ornament. In 2021 the Rabkin Foundation honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for art writing. His book of poems, Blanket of the Night, came out in 2024. Little holds degrees from Columbia University and Dartmouth and Middlebury Colleges. Born in New York City, he lives on Mount Desert Island, Maine.
