Alex Simmons - Storyteller, Educator, Creative Champion Alex Simmons is an award-winning writer, comic book creator, playwright, and international teaching artist dedicated to the power of story and the creativity in all of us. He's written for Disney, Marvel, DC, Penguin Press, and Simon & Schuster and is best known as the creator of Blackjack, the acclaimed adventure comic about an African American hero fighting for justice worldwide. Beyond the page, Simmons has spent decades helping others tell their stories. He's led workshops and creative arts programs across the U.S., Europe, Africa, and the West Indies - teaching students, inspiring educators, and coaching emerging writers to find their voice. Simmons is also the founder of Kids Comic Con, a family-friendly event celebrating creativity, literacy, and diversity. His passion for storytelling has shaped his work with everyone from Random House to the U.S. State Department. For over 35 years, he's been a leader in arts education - serving on boards, speaking at conferences, and guiding countless creators on their journey.
