Albert Payson Terhune (December 21, 1872 - February 18, 1942) was an American journalist who was popular for his novels relating to his favorite collies.He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1893 from Columbia University. From 1894 to 1916, he worked as a reporter for The Evening World, a New York newspaper that was published from 1887 to 1931 and served as the evening edition of the New York World.Mr. Terhune initially published short stories about Lad, his collie, in various general interest magazines such as Saturday Evening Post and Ladies' Home Journal. His first book was a collection of stories about Lad and was followed by over 30 additional dog-focused novels, including two about Lad.
