Volume 1 and 2 of the Compendium each costs 20% more than the combined price of any two of The Complete Darkness volumes, but with less content and significantly more lossy compression (Compendium volume 2 much worse than volume 1), resulting in pages that are extremely blurry, fuzzy and grainy. Some art and text (especially background and smaller ones) are so pixellated that they are indiscernable and illegible. Also, the Compendiums are a decade older than The Complete Darkness volumes. I'd advise getting the latter if you want a better reading experience that is also reasonably priced.
